Viagra: How "Vitamin V" Has Changed Lives
Viagra Has Changed the World as We Know ItViagra has changed the lives of millions of men, not to mention the very culture of America.
Sports stars endorse it, radio hosts get caught at the airport with it, and you probably know a dozen guys who you think may be using it because of the smiles on their faces. But you still haven't tried Viagra.
Millions of men (18 million in the U.S. alone, by some estimates) have trouble getting an erection. Since Viagra was approved by the FDA there is no way to begin to estimate how many marriages and relationships have been saved. It was only a century ago that the average lifespan of a man wasn't much more than half of what it is now, so the issue of men getting older and experiencing erectile dysfunction wasn't as paramount as it is now. But with more and more men living healthy lives beyond what their twilight years once were, they and their partners are still wanting to experience fulfilling sexual relationships.
The Origin of Viagra
How Viagra, sometimes called "Vitamin V" or "the little blue pill, " was created isn't exactly certain, or at least nobody's admitting how they did it. Certain members of the British press have claimed that some British scientists first discovered that Viagra could help with an erection in 1994, as they were working with sildenafil (Viagra's active ingredient) as a heart medicine. Sildenafil can increase blood flow, and as it was being experimented with as a medication useful for treating heart problems, someone figured out that it could also increase blood flow to the penis in the same was it can in the heart. But nobody at Pfizer, Inc., the parent company of Viagra, is talking. And whoever the scientists may have been, well, they don't get a piece of the action, as they were just employees doing a job in much the same way as the guy who figured out that a low-potency glue could be used to create a Post-It note. How Viagra Has Changed Sports In recent months, rumors have started to abound that professional athletes, looking for that winning edge, have turned to Viagra. Not to get an erection, but for increased blood flow overall. It is now being said that such superstar athletes as New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens and others have used Viagra for the increased flow of blood to the heart and lungs. And the World Anti-Doping Agency is studying Viagra's effects, but hasn't yet banned it the use of the drug, which means that it won't be illegal if someone decides to use it at this year's 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Experts are still divided over whether the drug actually offers athletes an edge, but if it is proven to work as an athletic enhancement, move over steroids. How Viagra Has Changed American Culture in General It's not only older men, or men with medical conditons, who are using Viagra these days. Younger guys who want to be able to perform after drinking have been known to use Viagra (something that is NOT advisable), and the very word - "Viagra" - has become part of the national catchphrase vocabulary. But use of Viagra, or any ED drug, is something that shouldn't be taken lightly, as erectile dysfunction is a very real medical condition that affects millions of lives and relationships.
Counterfeiters and Viagra
The world is full of people who refuse to make a buck the honest way, and since they don't have the wherewithal to invent something themselves, they decide to steal someone else's idea. The best-known example of this, of course, is with people who counterfeit money. Unfortunately, it also is being done every day with Viagra, and people order counterfeit (often labeled "generic") Viagra online, not realizing that they may be putting their lives at stake simply to save a buck. The only safe place to buy Viagra online is through an established, dependable online pharmacy that sells FDA-APPROVED VIAGRA ONLY. Nothing else should ever enter you system. You have no way of knowing who made it, or what's in it, and you could pay dire consequences. A reputable online pharmacy like eDrugstore.md, which also features a web page of health questions that answer many health and medication issues, is the way to go when ordering Viagra, or any medication, online.
Side Effects of Viagra
The most common (and usually relatively harmless) side effects of Viagra, as with all ED drugs, may include runny nose, flushing, headache, indigestion, dizziness or an upset stomach. These aside, however, Viagra can cause more serious problems for some men. Men who take blood flow and prostate medicines known as alpha-blockers, or heart medications known as nitrates, may have a sudden, unsafe drop in their blood pressure when they use Viagra while taking these drugs. So men using alpha-blockers and nitrates probably should not use Viagra, and should consult their doctor for before even thinking about it. In addition, rare instances, men taking Viagra - in very rare instances - have reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes, or a sudden loss or decrease in hearing, sometimes with ringing in the ears and dizziness. If this should occur, a man should consult a physician immediately, not just to get help, but to make sure these rare cases are documented. Also, if a man using Viagra should experience a condition known as priapism - an erection lasting longer than four hours - he should seek immediate medical assistance, as this is not normal. Viagra Has Changed the World for the BetterUntil 1998, when Viagra was introduced, men didn;t have much of an alternative when they couldn't achieve an erection. Since then, Viagra has changed the world for not only men, but for women as well. Nearly everybody is going to need a little help now and then, some of us more than others. If you haven't needed Viagra yet, good for you. Hopefully you never will. But the odds aren't in your favor, so remember some of this information and advice when it comes time to go shopping for an ED drug to get your life back on track.
